There are various activities planned to help celebrate our half century.
A 50th Anniversary Photographic competition. One category was judged at the dinner by Oliver Smart and the winner was Mr Richard Scantlebury, with a portrait of a Peregrine Falcon leaving the Finzels Reach ledge.This above was a runner up, Purple Sandpiper by Chris Perry.
A special cake was eaten at a most successful Members Evening on 16th February 2017.
A Celebration Dinner was held at Bristol Zoo on 23rd February 2017. Guest speaker Mark Avery (former BOC member), gave his remembrances of his early life in Bristol and how BOC shaped it. He asked us all to make a effort to do something for wildlife – most thought provoking.
A Book titled ‘Birding in the Bristol Region: A Celebration‘. Was published in Feb 2017 and sent to all members. Press for a message from the Editor Reviewed by Mark Avery
